Welcome to Riverman Cabin

Nestled in the beautiful valley of Tonteldoos, Riverman Cabin is the perfect place to exchange traffic for donkeys lazily grazing, rushed lunches for a picnic in the veld and city noises for an evening song, sung by crickets and orchestrated by frogs.  Riverman Cabin is situated in the Tonteldoos Valley, +-30 km northeast of Dullstroom, which is approximately a 3-hour drive from Johannesburg.

Riverman Cabin consists of seven independent cabins – three of which are stone cabins, one brick cabin, and the other three are wooden cabins.

All the cabins are fully furnished and equipped for a homely self-catering experience. All the cabins are open plan with cosy indoor fireplaces, as well as private, external braai areas with complimentary wood stocked for the first night.

A two night stay away from the hustle and bustle, very peaceful and relaxing. Owners very hospitable. Go in via dullstroom, the stoffberg road needs some work. Thanks for an awesome stay!

We loved every minute of it. Only small issue was the toilet leaking and not flushing properly. But overall I enjoyed the place and would return in a heart beat

Loved the rustic accommodation and bird life was good. The dams on property are ponds not really good for fishing.Nice having restaurant on site and enjoyed driving range.Getting there I would advise a vehicle with high clearance as road is bad in places.Tonteldoos is a place we will return to.

The road to Riverman not the best, but part of the experience. The accommodation was excellent, well maintained and met all our expectations. The lack of cell phone reception made it an even better stay. It is a beautiful setting and the thunderstorms and lightning experienced during our stay made it all the more special. We can definitely recommend the bacon and cheeseburgers at the restaurant - they were absolutely delicious!

Thanks to Percy and Karin for a very lovely stay.We stayed in the Wiggly Stone cabin. Very nicely decorated and comfortable, love the fireplace. The food was also excellent. If you seek quiet serenity, fresh farm air and waking up to the birds chirping, this is the place to be. Will definitely be coming back for a longer stay. My little one had a blast playing with Jack the dog. Child and pet friendly. The road via Stoffberg is also quite manageable, the dirt road is not too bad.Hope to be back soon.

The Riverman Cabin is a great place to get away from the noise of the city and to recharge. Situated in a quiet country side with limited cellphone coverage, you are forced to take a deep breath and relax. The road from Dullstroom was not the best, but it was manageable. The host was very friendly and helpful, making for the perfect stay. Will recommend it to anyone looking for a short breakaway.

The accommodation allowed all to be in the same place but have some privacy when needed. Everything was clean and tidy and Karin went out of her way to accommodate a large party and all our requirements. Will make use of this venue again. Access roads from Dullstroom not very suitable for normal sedan.

The peace & open space. Our Golden.Cabin was very dark inside. Thank you for allowing us to bring our 2 Border Collies who were bathed & have Frontline applied monthly to protect them from ticks & flees. They are not allowed on furniture, however we were bitten badly at night whilst sleeping. Didn't notice mosquitoes so not sure if it was bed bugs. A beautiful area to visit. Thank you very much.

Please note:The roads become slippery when wet. We recommend vehicles with a high ground clearance. Guests travelling with low vehicles must take extra care on the gravel road – we are in Tonteldoos, 30kms of gravel road from Dullstroom (only 20kms gravel road if you travel via Middelburg/Stoffberg).
At the moment, the best route is the one via Dullstroom.
