Things to do !
This enchanting country experience caters for every whim, whether you seek peace and serenity or a range of activities to try your hand at.
Everything you could possibly want to do is within easy distance, if not right on your doorstep! Our trout dams lie waiting for the avid fly-fisher, willing to rise with the sun – coffee flask in hand. If this doesn’t tickle your fancy, sleep in and awake to the sounds of abundant bird life, then bask in the sun with a captivating read, before a scrumptious picnic in the veld.
Challenge your adventurous spirit with fly-fishing, mountain biking, family games, hiking and horse riding or gear yourself for a 4x4 trek.
The farm boasts luscious trees, streams running through the trout dams and bold mountains, all of which contribute to the unique variety of fauna and flora to be found in the area, including endangered species such as the Crane family, Oribi, Aardwolf and Arum Lilies. Get to the top of the koppies any way you like, just as long as you take the time to soak in the panoramic grandeur of your surroundings and enjoy a sundowner with the mountains fading into the horizon.
Put on your hiking boots or bring your mountain bike – and trek through the farm and neighboring areas. Try and find all of the indigenous trees in the area – they are all marked with a number. There is a beautiful old acorn tree overlooking the highest of the two dams on the farm. Enjoy the sunset from this spot! The area also has over 25 different species of birds, including the Brown-hooded kingfisher.
You will easily find Pendle Hill Dairy, which is a natural cheese factory, a Peach Brandy distillery – Kristalwater, and a Lavender farm called Froggy Pond.
If hunger strikes whilst out and about, visit The Barn, a tranquil tea garden and Restaurant or quench your thirst at The Planter, our local pub, otherwise, head out to Dullstroom and enjoy the quaint shops and variety of Restaurants.
As the night sets in, return to a crackling fire, roast marshmallows and wait for the call of a jackal. It is such moments that bind friends and family and in due course you will come to think of Riverman Cabin, as home.
If you are still insatiable, explore the local attractions- all of which are only a stone throw away.
